This was one of the best decisions I ever made! I've been wanting to do LASIK for awhile, but life was busy and then my prescription had changed after pregnancy, and then I thought I was maybe too old (I'm 41)! I have dry eyes and bad astigmatism, and my contacts were causing a lot of problems (dry, irritated eyes), and I hate wearing glasses. I decided I had enough, and I wanted to see if I was a candidate, and a couple friends had recommended Boston Vision. The consult was great and I learned more about Monovision --- I had briefly heard about it when I was doing some research online. I was told I was a good candidate, so I decided to go for it! I was a little hesitant about the Monovision LASIK at first because I wasn't sure how it would feel to have one eye corrected for distance and one eye corrected for near, but the thought of potentially not having to wear reading glasses (I didn't need them quite yet) was so appealing. I was also a little nervous because I read about the possibility of having depth perception issues, and I didn't want that, especially since I am a PA in the ER and I do a lot of procedures at work. On the day of surgery, I discuss my concerns with Dr. Brenner (who was my fabulous surgeon!), and he reassured me that I shouldn't worry --- he had Monovision too! The procedure was quick and easy. There was pressure and some discomfort, but no pain. I am currently 6 days out from the procedure, and I feel great! There was some discomfort after the procedure (mostly light sensitivity, and feeling like an eyelash was in my eye), but I took the advice and rested for a few hours, and that helped a lot. The following morning, I had no discomfort, and I could see great! My eyes have been very dry, but the drops help a lot, and each day, the dryness improves significantly. I was able to drive the following day without any problems, and I have no issues with the Monovision, or depth perception! It is amazing. I am so very happy with my entire experience. The staff at Boston Vision (both the Milford and Brookline offices) were great, and I highly recommend them. Overall, I am thrilled that I finally took the leap and I couldn't be happier!
